OBITUARIES - THE SHERIDAN PRESS - May 10 2005

Freda Amel Pointer, 92, died Saturday, May 7, 2005, at Westview Health Care Center.

Graveside services will be later with arrangements by Kane Funeral Home.

Mrs. Pointer was born May 19, 1912, in Sheridan to Frank and Sadie Headley. She attended rural schools and was a 1931 graduate of Sheridan High School.

She married Leslie O. Pointer of Sheridan on Aug. 24, 1931, in Hardin, Mont. Mr. Pointer died in 1995.

She was president of the Taylor School Parent-Teacher Association and member of a poetry club. She worked as a bookkeeper for Crandall Insurance Agency, Wiley Oil Co., Sheridan Stationery and Cashway Lumber and also as a special education aide with Edith Longwith.

She belonged to Seventh-day Adventist Church in Sheridan and was involved in youth ministry. She and Mr. Pointer taught nature classes at Mills Spring Ranch, a youth facility on Casper Mountain. They later traveled throughout the United States.

Survivors include a daughter, Teresa Arlene of Pueblo, Colo.; a son, Larry of Billings; and seven grandchildren.
