Lester G. Fox, age 96, of Sheridan, WY died Sunday, December 21, 2008, in Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County.

Lester was born December 26, 1911, in Oklahoma, to John & Elsie (Warren) Fox.

Lester came to Sheridan as a teenager and graduated from Sheridan High School.

He married Vendeta Wheeler on November 10, 1932, in Hardin, MT. They ranched near Clearmont, WY as well as Lester doing other jobs until he went to work for the CB&Q Railroad as a switchman in 1937. During the years at the railroad, Lester also ranched and operated Fox Dairy. Lester retired from the railroad as the Yardmaster in 1975 but continued helping his son and grandson with the dairy and ranching.

Lester was a member of Elks Lodge #520, Snomads and the YMCA.

He enjoyed snow machining, fishing, horses, being in the mountains and traveling.

Lester loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Lester was preceded in death by his son Dean in 1998.

Lester is survived by his wife Vendeta of Sheridan; sister Barbara Roach of Oakland, CA and three grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Viewing will be 1:00pm until 3:00pm on Friday (Dec. 26th) from Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Funeral service will be on Saturday from Champion Ferries Funeral Home with the Rev. Douglas Goodwin officiating. Interment will be in Sheridan Elks Cemetery.
