Memorial services for Helen Bird Pierce, 93, of Sheridan will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church with the Revs. David Duprey and Ray Clark officiating.

Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home.

Mrs. Pierce died Thursday, Sept. 21, 2006, in Sheridan Manor.

She was born Sept. 6, 1913, in Lincoln, Neb., to Chauncey A. and Minta A. (Gibson) Bird. The family moved to Sheridan in 1919, and she was a 1931 graduate of Sheridan High School.

She married John Pierce in May 1935 in the Methodist Church in Sheridan. She owned and operated BirdHouse Music and Musical Instruments on Main Street and taught music for most of her life.

The Pierces moved to Fairmont, Minn., in 1949, and Mrs. Pierce played in a concert for the DePaul Infantry Chorus in Minneapolis.

She returned to Sheridan in 1970. She owned a rooming house on Loucks Street for a number of years and was choir director and organist for the Episcopal Church until she retired.

She was a member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church and Fine Arts Club and former head of the community concert.

She was preceded in death by her husband, three sons and three brothers.

Survivors include a brother, Hugh Bird of Sheridan; a sister, Virginia McClintock of Sheridan; a granddaughter: and four great-grandchildren
