OBITUARIES - THE SHERIDAN IRESS - November 27, 2001

Wilbur G. Mascher, 90, of Sheridan died Friday, Nov. 23, 2001, in Westview Health Care Center.

Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in Champion Ferries Funeral Home with Bishop Bret Barney officiating. Burial of cremains will be in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery.

Mr. Mascher was born Sept. 26, 1911, in Banner to Albert A. and Lillie Bell (Butterfield) Mascher.

He grew up in the Sheridan area. He attended the Smith Creek School northwest of Dayton and graduated from Sheridan High School.  He attended a radio repair school in Chicago after high school.

He worked for his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J.A. Butterfield, a few years. They lived in Banner. He also worked for Carl Johnson, who owned the Banner Store for some years. He worked as a mechanic, and later worked for Leo Petre, who owned the Sheridan Yard.

He married Mary Lois Webb July 3, 1942, in Hardin, Mont.

They moved to Cheyenne, where he worked for the Chevrolet garage until 1945, when they moved back to Sheridan. He worked for Scales Motor Co., which was known later as Cook Ford. In 1952, they moved to Rexford, Mont. They lived in Montana for several years before moving to Spokane, Wash., where he worked for Fruehauf Inc. as a mechanic. They returned to Sheridan after he retired at age 72 in 1992.

He was a member of the International Machinists Association, Local 1838 in Spokane, and recently received his 45-year membership pin.  He enjoyed repairing mechanical and electrical items in his spare time.

Three sisters and a brother preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife of Sheridan; two daughters, Carol Marler of Huntersville, N.C., and Anita Mascher of Port Orchard, Wash.; a son, David of Tacoma, Wash.; two sisters, Marie Jennings of College Place, Wash. and Vera Tanner of Salt Lake City, Utah; a brother, Lester Mascher of Sumner, Wash.; and two grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the donor's choice in care of Delphine Toner, First Interstate Bank in Sheridan.
