CASPER -- At her request, no funeral services will be held for Casper resident Dorothy Verlina (Curtis) Bailey, who died Feb. 28, 2005, at Wyoming Medical Center.

Her body has been donated to the University of Colorado School of Medicine.

Born Aug. 31, 1911, in Wolf, she was the sixth of seven children of Emma (Wingate) and William Curtis.

She received a bachelor's degree in elementary education and was a certified nursing assistant and certified geriatric technician; had taught for 26 years at schools in Sheridan, Johnson, Campbell and Natrona counties; and was involved in the ranching, furniture-moving, and personal care industries in Wyoming.

A volunteer for Meals on Wheels and Central Wyoming Senior Center, she manned the phone banks for local health fairs and the Blue Envelope Fund. While teaching, she was a leader for Campfire Girls and 4-H clubs.

Survivors include her son, Burk A Bailey of Casper; adopted brother, Clayton Curtis of Sheridan and Safford, Ariz.; numerous nephews and nieces; and, possibly, her eldest son, William R. Bailey, whose address is unknown.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, William, Harold and Frank Curtis; three sisters, Helen Vitti, Marion Taylor and Harriet Hults; her husband, Ned C. Bailey; and two children, Sarah and Bradford Bailey.
