OBITUARIES - CASPER STAR-TRIBUNE - September 18, 2002

SHERIDAN - Memorial services for Sheridan resident Gerald S. "Gerry" Gwinn, 83, will be conducted at 10 a.m. today at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Sheridan by the Rev. Ray Clark.  A reception will follow.

Private graveside services are Tuesday.

He died Sept. 15, 2002, at Sheridan County Memorial Hospital.

Born June 23, 1919, in Sheridan, he was the son of David E. and Frances S. Gwinn; graduated in 1928 from Sheridan High School; and attended Kemper Military Academy and the University of Wyoming.   Throughout his school years. He excelled in sports and was named an All-State high school football player his senior year.

The voice of KROE radio's "Time in for Sports," he had a varied career in sales and marketing.  For a time, he was associated with Sheridan Commercial Co., which was established  by his father.

He served on the board of directors of the Vernon S. and Rowena W. Griffith Foundation and was a longtime member of Elks Lodge. He loved the outdoors, whether fishing, hunting, tending his gardening, or playing golf.

Survivors include his wife, Agnes; two sons, Seth Gwinn, Fremont, Neb., and Geoff Tripalin, Madison, Wis.; two stepdaughters, Maureen and Barbara Humphrys;  four grandchildren and a sister-in-law.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald and George, and by his first wife, Jean.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sheridan County Fulmer Public Library or a charity of the donor's choice.
