OBITUARIES - CASPER STAR-TRIBUNE - September 12, 2002

SHERIDAN - Mass of Christian Burial for Sheridan resident Esther E. Stockhouse, 92, will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Saturday at Holy Name Catholic Church in Sheridan by the Rev. Ron Stolcis.  Interment will be in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery.

Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Friday at Kane Funeral Home in Sheridan.

She died Sept. 10, 2002, at Westview Health Care Center.

Born April 20, 1910, on the old Mosberg Ranch near Banner, she was the daughter of Elmer and Mayme (Armstrong) Barnes.

Following her school years, she met Axel F. Stockhouse and they were married Feb. 16, 1931, in Sherian.

They made their home in Sheridan, where she worked in the laundry at the Veterans Administration Medical Center.

A faithful member of Holy Name Church, she loved spending time with her family; gardening; sewing; reading; and watching sporting events of her children, grandchildren and great-grand children.  She was an avid fan of the Sheridan Broncs, Wyoming Cowboys and Denver Broncos.

Survivors include her son, Axel Stockhouse, Jr., and his wife of Greybull; two daughters, Josephine Butterfield and her husband of Roundup, Mont., and Carolyn Brennan of Sheridan; 11 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren: and two great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a grandson; parents; seven sisters; and a brother.
