OBITUARIES - THE SHERIDAN PRESS - October 15, 2001

GILLETTE - Former Sheridan resident Frances B. Harrod, 91, of Gillette died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2001, of natural causes at Pioneer Manor Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mark Jervis of First Baptist Church officiating.  Interment will be at Mount Pisgah Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Harrod was born Dec. 4, 1909, in Seattle to Walter and Nell (Williams) Davis.  The family moved in 1910 to Sheridan, where she grew up and graduated from high school in 1927.  She attended two years of college.

She married Bill Harrod March 23, 1933.  They later moved to Gillette, then in 1970 to Greeley, Colo.

Mr. Harrod died in 1973.

Mrs. Harrod moved to Glendale, Ariz., near her daughter, but returned to Gillette in 1995 as a resident of Pioneer Manor Nursing Home.

She was a former member of the benefit club and a member of First Baptist Church, where she was active in the church circle.  She enjoyed working crossword puzzles, reading, and playing cards.  She and her husband enjoyed traveling.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Bob; a brother, William Davis; two sisters, Mildred Drake and Lucille Brokaw; and two grandsons.

Survivors include one son, Ralph of Gillette; a daughter, Bettye Griffiths of Glendale, Ariz.; a brother, Jack of Tucson, Ariz.; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
