Helen A. VICKERE Scott 1908 - 1999 SHS 1926

SHERIDAN - Funeral services for Helen A. Scott, 91, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Doug Melius officiating. Interment will be In the Masonic section of Sheridan Municipal Cemetery. Viewing will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at Ferries Funeral Home.

She died Feb. 9, 1999, in her Sheridan home.

She was born Feb, 7, 1908, In Spirit Lake, Idaho, the daughter of Talmadge and Gennie (Hunter) Vickere. They moved to Sheridan in 1912 when her father purchased the lumber yard that became Vickere Lumber Co.

She graduated from Sheridan High School, Keating Business College In Spokane, Wash., and attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

She married Dr. John W. Scott on Aug. 1, 1928, in Sheridan.

For many years, she directed the choirs at First Baptist Church and Christian Church and was a well-loved church soloist.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, past president of Chapter T, PEO, past president of Fine Arts Club and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Fuller of Sheridan and Peggy Corson of Cheyenne; five grandsons and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1993, her sister, Barbara Christensen and a son-in-law.

Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church or Fulmer Public Library Foundation.
