OBITUARIES - CASPER STAR-TRIBUNE - April 20, 2001

SHERIDAN--Funeral services for Sheridan resident Ruth K. Larsen, 92, will be conducted at 10 a.m. today at Trinity Lutheran Church, with the Revs. Ronald Nelson and Wilbur Holz officiating.  Interment will be in the Masonic No. 8 Section of Sheridan Municipal Cemetery.

She died April 17, 2001, in Westview Health Care Center in Sheridan.

She was born Oct. 8, 1908, in Big Horn County, Mont., the daughter of Frank and Nettie (Lupton) Kimmel.  The family moved to Sheridan, where she attended Sheridan High School and received her nurse's training at Memorial Hospital.

On Sept. 5, 1928, she married Jens Larsen in Sheridan and they lived at Eatons' Ranch, where he was lower ranch foreman.  In 1942, they moved to Laramie and she worked at Ivinson Memorial Hosptital until they returned to Sheridan in 1945.

She was the nursing supervisor for Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County until 1950, when she became school nurse for Sheridan County School District 2.  She retired in 1968 and was honored as "Nurse of the Year" by the Nurses Association.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and Eastern Star and a 50-year member of the Mid-Century Homemakers Club.  She enjoyed her Bible-study group at Sugarland Ridge, spending time at their cabin in the mountains, playing cards and gardening.  She especially loved being with her family.

Survivors include two sons and their wives, Leonard Larsen of Worland and Donald Larsen of Sheridan: two sisters, Edith Collins and Ada Spear, both of Sheridan; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1984, two brothers and five sisters.

Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church.
