OBITUARIES - CASPER STAR-TRIBUNE - July 1, 2003

SHERIDAN - Graveside services for Sheridan resident Millie Simons, 96, will be conducted at 11 a.m. today, July 1, in the Elks Section of Sheridan Municipal Cemetery by the Rev. Robert Miller.

Visitation will be from 8 to 10:45 a.m. today at Champion-Ferries Funeral Home in Sheridan.

She died June 28, 2003, at Sheridan Manor.

Born June 5, 1907, in Serepta, Russia, she was the daughter of Henry and Elizabeth (Roth) Kerbel; and came to the United States with her parents in 1913, by ship to Baltimore.  They moved to Havilok, Neb., then settled in Clearmont. She attended grade school in Big Horn and graduated from Sheridan High School.

She worked on numerous dude ranches in Arizona and Eaton's Dude Ranch; and was a clerk in drug stores.

She married Guy F. Rogers in Sheridan.  He died in 1972.

Later, she married Ray Simons of Sheridan.  He also preceded her in death.

A 50-year member of P.E.O. and Sheridan Women's Club, she was an avid bowler and bridge player; loved her flowers, yard and home; and enjoyed going to the Kaufmann Ranch on Piney Creek.  She also loved to sing and dance and was a member of the church choir.

Survivors include numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, a sister, a niece and two nephews.
