OBITUARIES - THE SHERIDAN PRESS - February 22, 2001

Grace Marie McConaughy, 92, of Sheridan died Saturday, Feb. 17, 2001, at Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter's Episcopal Church with Father David Duprey and the Rev. Ray Clark officiating.  In accordance with her last wishes, Mrs. McConaughy was cremated, and cremains will be buried next to her husband in the Elks Cemetery in Sheridan.  A luncheon at 1 p.m. in the Story Women's Club will follow. Kane Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Mrs. McConaughy was born Nov. 19, 1908, in Iowa to Harry and Maud
Campbell.  The family moved to Sheridan when she was 2 years old.  She graduated from Sheridan High School at the age of 16 and a year later married Vivian Cooper.

She spent most of her working years at Ernst's Saddle Shop in Sheridan.

She married Bob McConaughy in 1950 and moved to Rosebud Lane in Story.

She was an active bowler and golfer, loved to camp and pack in the mountains and was a member of the Story Women's Club.  She loved to sew and quilt, had a passion for world travel and enjoyed reading novels and working crossword puzzles.

She was preceded in death by her husband, in 1975; a son, Jimmie Cooper in 1988; a grandson, Gregory Cooper in 1963; three sisters, Helen, Mildred
and Frances; and a younger brother, Jim Willard.

Survivors include two granddaughters, a great-grandson and many
nieces and nephews.
