Alice Lee Davis (“Lee”) passed away at Sheridan Memorial Hospital on Nov. 7, 2011 at age 105 following a short illness.

Lee was born in Ranchester, WY on Aug. 23, 1906 and grew up on her parents (Oliver Guy and Ruth Stevens Rhode) ranch near Ranchester. She graduated from Sheridan High School in 1924 and attended the University of Nebraska for two years where she was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega sorority.

Lee was preceded in death by her husband, Philip C. Davis, three sisters (Doris Olson, Louise Pryde, and Ruth Sinn) and three brothers (Joe Rhode, Bob Rhode, and Guy Rhode, Jr.).

She is survived by three sons (Peter of Banner, Scott of Sheridan, and Jon of Newport Beach, CA); daughter Nancy of San Rafael, CA; 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Lee was Town Clerk for the Town of Ranchester for many years. She was a member of the Sheridan County Fulmer Public Library Board of Directors (1969 to 1974) and served as secretary of the Exectutive Committee of the library. She also served on the Northern Wyoming Community College (now Sheridan College) Board of Trustees (1965 to 1968).

For many years she wrote a column for the Sheridan Press about Ranchester happenings.

She enjoyed playing bridge (she was a member of a local bridge club for some 50 years), working crossword puzzles, and especially, reading.

She was an avid fan of the University of Nebraska football team.

Pursuant to her wishes, no funeral or memorial services are planned for Lee.
