OBITUARIES - CASPER STAR-TRIBUNE - September 12, 2002

SHERIDAN - Graveside services for Ruth Constance (Guyer) Jones, 97, will be conducted at noon Friday in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery by the Rev. Lonnie Eschliman.

She died Sept. 10, 2002 in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Born March 20, 1905, in Sheridan, she was the daughter of Edmond Grant and Anna (Johnson) Guyer; graduated from Sheridan High School in 1924; and Hastings, Neb. College in 1929.

She then taught school in Big Horn for a year, Buffalo for five years, Sheridan Junior High for seven years and SHS for 13 years.  While at SHS, she sponsored the Bronco yearbook for about 10 years.

On December 19, 1953, she married J. Harold Jones.  He preceded her in death in 1972.

A member of Chapter T, PEO Sisterhood since 1934, she had served as president.  She also belonged to the American Association of University Women, YWCA, First Presbyterian Church of Sheridan and Presbyterian Women.  She was thought to be the oldest living member of the church.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Dr. Edmond Elarth Guyer; and a nephew.

Survivors include her stepson, Allen Jones, and his wife, Eleanore, of Colorado Springs; sister, Dorothy Guyer Bennett of Lincoln, Neb.; and three neieces.
