Brecken Nelson PIERSON 2004 - 2023 SHS 2023

Brecken Nelson Pierson, 18, sadly passed away on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at home.

Brecken was born on November 1, 2004, in Denver, CO, to parents Nathan and Kristy Pierson. He moved to Sheridan with his family in 2008. At that time, he was so excited to be a big brother. He was the best big brother and son anyone could ever dream of.

Brecken graduated from Sheridan High School in 2023, and he earned a Scholarship to attend Sheridan College to pursue his career with the Forest Service or as a Game Warden. He was able to participate in his first day of college on Monday in pursuit of a degree in Rangeland Management.

Brecken enjoyed the mountains, fishing, kayaking, hunting, camping, four-wheeling, family vacations, driving his sister around, spending time with his girlfriend, Hailey, working out/lifting weights, gaming, playing with his 3 cats, taking pictures, listening to music, shopping at Walmart, working on cars and hanging out with friends. He would always provide rides for anyone who needed one. He was a country boy at heart, through and through. A friend to all and did not have a mean bone in his body. In 2019, Brecken shot his first bull elk in the Big Horn Mountains with his grandfather’s bow during archery season. That was one of the proudest moments ever. He had so many future hopes and dreams and was so full of potential.

Brecken was the kindest, caring young man around. He brought a smile to everyone’s face and lit up every room he was in. His laugh was oh-so joyful. He lived and loved life. His parents believe he was an old soul born in this life. When Brecken was 7, he was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. This was a life-changing disease that overwhelmingly consumed his entire life. Brecken will be dearly missed by everyone who knows him. His life was taken way too soon. He was brave and fought an endless battle with this horrible, unforgiving illness until the end.

Brecken was preceded in death by his grandfather Thomas Nelson Jr. of Sheridan, WY, great grandparents, Thomas Nelson Sr. and Vivian Nelson, Sheridan, WY, and Raymond and Jean Moore, Kennebec, SD.

He is survived by his parents, Nathan and Kristy Pierson, his sister, Bristol Pierson, all of Sheridan, WY, his grandparents Kim and Doug Kessler, of Sheridan, WY, Richard and Marge Pierson of Evans, CO. Also, his great grandparents Robert (Bob) and Karen Severy, Prescott, AZ, Uncle Tim Pierson and Aunt Nicole Pierson, cousins Lauren Victoria and Katie Pierson of Baskin Ridge, NJ, Aunt Amy Nelson, Broomfield CO, a Big extensive family in South Dakota.

A Viewing will be from 9:00 to 9:45 A.M. on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at Bethesda Worship Center and the Funeral Service at 10:00 A.M., with Pastor Scott Lee officiating. A Reception will follow in the fellowship hall.
