SHERIDAN - Services for Sheridan resident Elizabeth F. Robinson, 104, will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church in Sheridan by the Rev. Douglas Goodwin.  Burial will be in the Sheridan Municipal Cemetery.

She died Oct. 31, 2002, at Sheridan Manor.

Born July 25, 1898, in Clarinda, Iowa, she was the daughter of Turner Frederick "T.F." and Martha Ophelia (Thompson) FitzGerald.  At age 8, she moved with her family to Kansas and lived near Columbus, on an 80-acre farm.  She attended a country school a mile from home.

After three years, they returned to Iowa, where she attended school a few miles from Clarinda.  In 1912, the family moved to the Billings, Mont., Bench, northeast of town.  She finished grade school and attended a year of high school in Billings, before her father and older brothers homesteaded 10 miles east of Arvada.

She finished high school in Sheridan, after teaching a year at the school near her home. She also attended the University of Wyoming and Sheridan College.

On Sept. 3, 1926, she married George Chester Robinson.

They lived on his homestead while she taught school on the Middle Prong of Wild Horse Creek.  In 1930, they moved to Sheridan.

She enjoyed working at home and raising her family.  Active in the First United Methodist Church, she helped teach children in the beginner's department for 20 years. She was a member of the Alpha Kappa Sunday School class, attended their monthly meetings, and assisted with the yearly banquets.

In 1960, she spent a year and summer schools at Sheridan College, in preparation of teaching two years in Squirrel Creek in Montana.

Survivors include two sons, George C. Robinson Jr. of Sheridan and Oren Menagh Robinson of Phoenix, Ariz.; a daughter, Shirley Ellgaard of San Francisco; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and siblings.
