REGIS - Leta M. Dudrey, 97, of St. Regis died Sunday. May 19, 1996, at Mineral Community Nursing Home in Superior.

She was born July 4, 1898, in Sheridan, Wyo., the daughter of Charles and Lilly Ann Ridley. She became a teacher at age 18 and taught 10 students covering eight grades, all in a single room.

In 1917 Leta married Edwin Miles and moved to Acme, Wyo., where they raised three children: Albert, Ruby and Nadine. In 1933 they moved to a ranch east of Lodgegrass and lived there until shortly before Edwin's death.

She later married A.D. Dudrey in Sheridan, where they lived until his death. Leta moved to St. Regis in 1982 to live with her daughter and son-in-law. Ruby and Ed Pierce. There she continued to crochet, garden and correspond with dozens of relatives and friends.

She is survived by her daughters Ruby of St. Regis and Nadine of College Park, Md., as well as numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be 5 p.m. Friday, May 31, at the St. Regis United Methodist Church. Interment will be at a later date in Sheridan, Wyo.

Arrangements are under the direction of Garden City Funeral Home and Crematory in Missoula.
