Mass of Christian Burial for former Sheridan resident James Cerwick, 21, of Bellevue, Wash., will be 10 a.m. Friday at Holy Name Catholic Church in Sheridan with the Rev. Tom Ogg officiating.

Visitation will be 5 p.m. Thursday at Kane Funeral Home, followed by a Christian wake service at 7 p.m.

Burial will be in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery after Friday’s service.

Mr. Cerwick died Oct. 27, 2007, in Bellevue due to a house fire.

He was born Sept. 24, 1986, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Ray Cerwick and Collette (Mallinger-Cerwick) Prill. The family lived in Fort Dodge, Iowa, then moved to Sheridan in 1991.

He participated in sports throughout his school years and was a member of the soccer team during his final two years of high school.

He graduated from Sheridan High School in 2005, then had several jobs before moving to Bellevue. He worked for Olympic Boats at the time of his death.

He enjoyed playing the guitar, attending concerts, listening to music, watching movies and travel.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother Barbara Mallinger.

Survivors include his mother and stepfather, John Prill, of Sheridan; his father of Perry, Iowa; four brothers, Jesse, Michael and Mason Cerwick and Stephen Prill, all of Sheridan; a sister, Stephanie Prill of Sheridan; three grandparents, James Mallinger of Fort Dodge, James Cerwick of Hardy, Iowa, and Sally Cerwick of Duncombe, Iowa; and two step-grandparents, Bud and Terri Prill of Ranchester.
